Oak Church Alter and Memorial Case

Oak alter and memorial case installed in Whiteparish Church.

The alter was designed with the angled base and shaped front panel to give the impression of a cloth hanging over it. All made in solid English Oak. Front and ends have flat panels showing off the quarter sawn timber with an Ovalo mould around the inside edge of the frame. The angled base supporting, giving the impression of the panels floating. In the centre of the front panel a raised and carved set of church bells, pierced through panel to give more depth. Inscribed top rail. Top with large overhang and a large chamfer to the underside. Polished in a clear matt finish. Memorial case to hold and display an opened memorial book commemorating the local villagers who lost their lives in the two world wars. Along side a ceramic poppy from outside the Tower of London in 2015. The case has a lockable lift up glazed lid, supported on stays. the case was designed so that local school children would be able to see it, also wheelchair users can get close enough. Mounted on the wall with a split baton and a screw below.
