Alcove cabinets make use of an  awkward space, and fill it with a useful practical and elegant item of furniture. These are all individual cabinets made to the specific size and requirements. They are more often made with an enclosed bottom cupboard which protrudes past the chimney breast and a top section of a lesser depth, fitting inside the alcove with open or enclosed shelves. This can also have glass shelves in place of wooden ones and have lighting fitted if required as a display cabinet. The sides and back can also be fabric lined in place of wood. The top section can stop short of the ceiling and room coving with its own cornice moulding or continue to the ceiling and have the room coving fixed to it. The base can also have drawers either on show or hidden behind the doors. They can be made in a wood that can have a polished finish as a contrast to the rest of the room or finished in either a coloured lacquer or a hand painted eggshell finish which ca match or compliment the room.
